Sometimes we’re guarded because of people and situations from the past. What was required then is not necessarily needed now. But how do you tell? Feel your feet on the ground. The way the earth supports you. Take as long as you need to arrive in this moment. What is happening now? What is it asking you for?
Note from Ryn: I used to silence myself a lot. But to quote a bit of one of my poems:
...if I couldn’t find a way to exhume the blockage of the unsaid they’d strangle any life remaining.
Creative boundaries are an important part of making and sharing our art because making and sharing art is vulnerable! And also: sometimes our boundaries are protecting the person we used to be.
