“What’s the box made of?”
I asked this of another participant during one of
’s Wonder sessions (which are awesome btw: someone brings a challenge, and instead of offering advice, we ask questions to help the challenge-bringer discover their answer). And, as often happens when I hear the words exiting my mouth, I knew the question was for me.
We think outside the box. We don’t fit inside the box. But we feel pressure to make ourselves fit inside the box.
The box feels like it’s made of the concrete and rebar of cultural rules, family expectations, practical limitations. If you look closer you might see flimsy cardboard. Or maybe…
...the box is a tower of Jenga blocks. And you’re trying to see which one you can you pull without bringing the whole thing crashing down.
What if the whole thing crashed down?
What if there was no box?
🧐 Until next time: If you feel the pressure of a box of expectations, what specifically is the box made of? When you look at it that way, are you still sure you can’t do things your way?
Until next time,

This is a simple and memorable "depth perception" hack! Love it and thank you.
