You have an abundance of creativity. When you don’t express it, it acts much like hoarded financial wealth—it doesn’t do anyone any good. I’d go so far as to say it makes the hoarder sick.
Note from Ryn: Last summer, when I was working on my debut poetry collection (releasing July 14th!!) and I could see the finish line for the book draft, I started feeling anxious I’d never have a good idea again. It happened again a few weeks ago as I started seeing the finish line for my current WIP.
I know it’s absurd, because I already have plenty of ideas, but honing in one for so long makes me forget that. I’m choosing to ignore the other ideas for now so my brain thinks they don’t exist. It seems to be part of my creative process...
When I started telling people I was writing a book, at least half the people I talked to wanted to write a book “someday.” And I wonder if part of the reason we delay starting creative projects is because we think we only have one good idea in us.
