The antidote to powerlessness
If it’s time to prioritize your creative work, even though the world is shitty, and you don’t have time, and you can only sit for 20 minutes because your butt hurts, and and and..
In The Creative Courage Club, we spent time this month doing things that feel too small to make a difference and noticing what happens.
If you did even one, you likely noticed that doing small things makes a BIG difference because it connects us with our own power to influence our mood, to make something out of nothing, to get ourselves unstuck, and to reach out and connect.
In a world where there are so many BIG things to feel powerless over, noticing and using your own power is an essential skill for not just surviving, but thriving.
With that in mind, I’m experimenting with a new cadence for these Creative Courage Club meetings:
A reader once shared that one of my superpowers is writing short, inspiring, and powerful missives, so in May, I’ve given myself the challenge to keep all of my messages to you SUPER short: less than 250 words. (After that, I’ll probably send some longer ones, but I’ll continue to take the same time and care shaping them into something that will leave you feeling like your creative dreams are possible now—not “someday”—without glossing over all the ways that’s hard.)
Each Tuesday, I’ll send a short Note From The Creative Courage Muse as a quick way to (re)orient you to prioritizing your creative desires before the week’s gotten away from you. (I’ve been having fun sharing these on Substack Notes & Instagram, and I think it’s a different energy when you receive something gift wrapped in your email inbox.)
The regular newsletter will remain a mix of more interactive Creative Courage Club meetings, behind the scenes of what it looks like to show up for your art even when it’s hard, and poems, sent 1-5 times a month.
As President of The Creative Courage Club, I solemnly swear to never send you an email just to stay top of mind, but you can now Choose Your Own Experience (see the instructions below).
🧐 Until next time: Where do you avoid even trying because you think what you’re trying to achieve is impossible? Consider this your invitation to do one tiny thing toward the impossible thing anyway.

Choose Your Own Experience
The Creative Courage Project is the main newsletter. It’s a mix of more interactive Creative Courage Club meetings, behind the scenes of what it looks like to show up for your art even when it’s hard, and poems, sent 1-5 times a month.
Each Tuesday, I send a short Note From The Creative Courage Muse as a quick way to (re)orient you to prioritizing your creative desires before the week’s gotten away from you.
Right now, you’re all signed up for the full experience, and if, at any point, you want fewer emails, you can customize that by clicking the button below and scrolling down to notifications:
